Roark-Sullivan Featured on Highlights TV Show



Highlights is a 30 minute weekly TV show featuring organizations, events, grass-roots efforts and people who move our state and community forward in a positive way.

The show is a collaboration with Kanawha County Schools, Suddenlink Communications and Jim Strawn & Company.


The show airs daily at 8:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Suddenlink’s channel 17.


The show airing April 22, 2019 –  April 29, 2019 ‘highlights’ Kanawha County Library's Tisket A Tasket, Forks of the Coal, and Roark-Sullivan Lifeway Center.

John Thompson, Executive Director of Roark-Sullivan Lifeway Center was interviewed.


John talked about the mission of Roark-Sullivan which is to end chronic and Veteran’s homelessness. To this end, Roark-Sullivan Lifeway Center strives to provide safe, temporary shelter, skill development, and referrals to recovery services to support individuals experiencing homelessness to become self-sufficient.


Our upcoming fundraising event was discussed: the 14th Annual Night at the Races set for May 4, 2019 at Edgewood Country Club. A Derby-themed party complete with big screen to watch the 145th Running for the Roses, food, drinks, contests, auction items, music, dance, fun and fellowship.

Scheduled to be on hand is Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr, The Carpenters Ants, Bob Thompson, Miss WV, and hopefully you.

Assisting in the event preparation is a group of 5 University of Charleston seniors. It is part of their Senior Project as students in the Integrated Communication Program.


We had Chad Tate and Gracie Roberts on the show discussing their role in promoting the event. Nice job Chad & Gracie.
